Stem initiative

Our Vision

The technology governing our world and driving the job market is evolving fast. Versademics aims to provide early exposure to young scholars to STEM programs – such as robotics, coding, and programming – in order to prepare them for potential future careers in STEM related fields.

We are dedicated to instilling a lifelong passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) within our students, while also nurturing our scholars’ confidence and leadership abilities. Through our FIRST programs and initiatives, we aim to equip our students with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the fields of science and technology, empowering them to make meaningful contributions to society and to uplift their communities.

What is first?

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a robotics league that was established in 1989 by Dean Kamen, the inventor of Segway. Together with the esteemed MIT professor Dr. Woodie Flowers, Kamen initiated a program designed to challenge high school students by tasking them with the construction of robots. Over time, FIRST has thrived under the guidance of Kamen and Flowers, expanding its reach to encompass students of all grade levels through unconventional avenues such as LEGO.

With a clear mission at its core, FIRST strives to inspire young individuals to become leaders and innovators in the fields of science and technology. It achieves this by involving them in engaging, mentor-based programs that foster the development of skills in science, engineering, and technology. By encouraging innovation and cultivating well-rounded capabilities, including self-confidence, communication, and leadership, FIRST aims to shape the future of these budding science enthusiasts.

Our robotics program

Our program is meticulously designed to equip students with a diverse array of real-world skills that extend far beyond the realm of robotics. We understand the importance of preparing our students for the challenges and opportunities they will encounter in their future endeavors. To accomplish this, our curriculum covers an extensive range of subjects and practices, ensuring a holistic and well-rounded educational experience. Some of the areas we focus on include:

  • Computer-Aided Design: Students learn how to use software tools to design and model their robot prototypes, developing essential skills in digital design.
  • Kanban Project Management: We teach students effective project management techniques, utilizing the Kanban method to plan and organize their tasks, fostering valuable organizational skills.
  • Web Design: Students delve into the world of web design, learning how to create visually appealing and functional websites, acquiring skills that are increasingly in demand in today’s digital age.
  • Professional Communication: Effective communication is a crucial skill in any field. We provide students with guidance on professional communication, including verbal and written communication techniques, presentation skills, and teamwork dynamics.
  • Graphic Design: Students explore the principles of graphic design, learning how to create visually compelling graphics and materials, enhancing their creativity and visual communication abilities.
  • Industry-Standard Programming Practices: We familiarize students with programming practices that align with industry standards, equipping them with valuable coding skills applicable not only in robotics but also in various technological domains.
